According to Le Royaume de Siam written by Simon de la Loubère, a French diplomat to Siam, writer, mathematician and poet during the reign of King Narai the Great, the king of Ayutthaya Kingdom from 1656 to 1688, it is said that tea drinking was reserved only among the nobles in the city and was considered a social interaction activity. The way those nobles drank tea was influenced by the Chinese traditioned upon the commercial contacts during the epoch. This day, tea has become a mandatory beverage for the Thais with tea planation occupied mostly in provinces in northern region.
